These days musicians release new albums slowly (one or two tracks a month). My new album ‘When Shadows Talk’ is due out in August, but yesterday I released four of the tracks, along with videos to go with each.
It’s super simple, one click takes you to every option for listening (Apple/ Spotify/ Tidal/ Amazon/ YouTube…. etc). LISTEN HERE
When Shadows Talk is a solo piano album that covers themes related to the sensitivity, mental health and the creative dilemmas of a composer. I’ll talk more about the process and how we captured the recording when the full release gets closer, but I’ll share with you that we recorded on my piano at home and because it isn’t a recording studio, we had to deal with elements like: Rain on the tin roof, a council truck doing roadworks, a whipper-snipper next door, a barking dog, a helicopter, a broken piano string, a buzzing in the piano from a spanner left there during tuning and finally a power outage for 2 hours that arrived right at the end of my best take of the longest and hardest piece. I’ll say it nicely… 💩
But we did it, we pulled it off and it’s some of my best writing and performances! I really hope you have a chance to listen. Thanks go to Producer Peter Stevenson, Engineer Michael Luchich and Mastering Engineer Tom Eaton, as well as our ever-patient and world’s best piano tuner Tony Prince (the spanner in the piano was Bas’s fault. I looked, but there is no emoji for strangulation 🤣).
Again (if you missed it) Please click this link and choose how you would like to listen: LISTEN HERE
Videos for the tracks: (liner notes and explanations are below the video when you click to listen).
